Start by conducting a keyword search in the Library’s catalog. Search using your topic, at the end of your search add "and Ebrary" (Example: black death and Ebrary). You will receive a list of results. The first result listed is an e-book. You can tell it is an e-book when it has the GO button with an arrow beside it and it doesn’t have a location, call number, or status. To go directly into the e-book click on the GO button. To access more detailed information click on the title.
Once you are in the record you can access the book by clicking on the link “Connect to title online (UA network users only)”. If you are working off campus you will need to log in with your UAnet and password. (The record is pictured below)
Checking the Availability to Download and How to Download
Here is an example of an ebook that can’t be downloaded:
Here is an example of an ebook that is available to download. To download the ebook directly from this detail page click on full download. If you would like to view the ebook prior to download click on read online. If you are not already logged in you will be asked to put in your username and password.
After you are done viewing the ebook and you decide you want to download it click on the download icon.
Make sure IOS is selected as the device and select whether or not you are on your own computer or a public computer. Click Continue.
If you have not already downloaded the free app Bluefire Reader do that now and create an Adobe ID.
Click on Download Your Book.
Your book will automatically open in Bluefire Reader if you have already entered your Adobe ID , if not you will be asked enter your Adobe ID.
In Bluefire Reader you can:
View all the books in your bookshelf
View the table contents
View the item information (check out date, expiration date, return, and delete item)
View your bookmarks
Search keywords within the text
Customize your viewing settings
To view the item information go to the table of contents, then click on Item Info on the top left. Here you can read, delete, edit or return the item, and view the detailed checkout information.
